KaOsz - 2002
Are you ready for... KaOsz?
The stage is set: a boxing ring where a powerful and daring struggle takes place. But against whom are we fighting?
This is KaOsz:
The ring is a crossroads for all who need to exist, an intersection where expression has urgency, and nothing lies still. Permanence falls to a protean power, and nothing is what it was. Life here is a passage, a fleeting moment in our individual truths which are often miserable when compared to our ideals.
This is the struggle against what a man ought to be, the struggle to see ourselves in that truth which is now. It is a place inhabited by boxers and dancers, actors and models. At times they love, betray, take vengeance, and destroy. They can also be vulnerable, instinctive, and animalistic: They are each embodiments of a pluralistic cast of identities.
KaOsz is a journey, a physical and mental struggle that exceeds the boundaries of performance. It challenges the public, provokes them to question their place both inside and outside the ring. The rolls are transformed, switched, and transposed from one to another. Everyone participates. Cigarette in hand, we inhale together, and we are unified by the smoke.
"Frenak's dancers finely portray a strange and beastly world. It is a sophisticatedly woven, unforgiving wildness : a life or death struggle embalmed with the nobility of an intricately woven age-old Belgian lace." (Nepszabadsag)
